Its a trip, not a fall. Get Up!

It's cold and quiet.    She's alone in the entire house and in deep thought. On the brown sofa lays a Maasai shuka and a blue hat on one corner. She's seated on the other corner nearer to the TV. There's a laptop at her left hand side from where music has been playing, but she switched it off to listen to her thoughts. In front of her, is a wooden table with some drinks on it.. There's a black cur rant fanta, and a bottle of whiskey. About 6 used classes and one small tot. There's a small star fish at the middle that is meant for decoration. At the edge is a mouse mat with some keys on top. The sink is full of dirty dishes and pieces of cake are all over.. Even on the red carpet. The bedroom door is open and she can see the blue light shining on the wall where a black hoodie lays. The clock is ticking.. It's 1:15am on Sunday morning .   She however is not at peace.  She had been up and down looking for it but didn't find it. I

Hey Love

Image
Hey there… I do hope you’re doing well in your sleep. How do you sleep like? Facing the side, on your stomach, with your face up or like a star like I do? Do you talk in your sleep? Are you having any dreams in there? I will perhaps find out about all that in due time but as for now, enjoy your sleep love. Sleep as much as you need to. Sleep till you have had enough. Sleep till He finishes molding me for you.  The rib that He took from you is being shaped and made better just for you. More content is being added to it, the most recent ones being patience and love. With time, more fruits of the Holy Spirit will be ripening. The rib is being transformed by the renewal of the mind and change of the will to conform to that of the creator. As you wake up, be sure that she will be all set and ready. Babe, I’m in no hurry…I’m not sure whether or not I’ve already met you but if I have, you better be sure I have not the slightest clue you are ‘the one’.If I haven't, then I can't wai

Mwathani Ti Makofokofo

‘ MWATHANI TI MAKOFOKOFO’ is a line in a song that was often played when I was growing up. The song was fun to sing and dance to….At the time, I couldn’t pronounce the words right, leave alone know what they meant. Like every other African mother, my mum would be up early every morning and as she does her house chores, she would have the radio on, as if it’s the rhythm to which she works. My younger sister and I would sing along to any song that came on the radio whether or not we understood it. This particular song was no different…but all we knew was the ‘kofokofo’ part and nothing else. We would then hum our way through the rest of the song and act like some International Music Superstars.  My mum would  look at us, shake her head as if doubting if we really are her children, then proceed to the rest of her chores. Eventually, as I grew up, I could grasp and understand things better. I found out that the line actually means that God is not a pair of gumboots, which is of cours

What Do Women Want?

The dentist says I need to have another appointment with him because, apparently, my per-molars are still milk teeth. These teeth are in my mouth illegally!! The thought of the process I will have to undergo is irksome... I'm thinking of excavation and hammers, nails, mjengo, Kanda Ya moko, pliers and blood all over 😫 But the thoughts are interrupted by a pat on the back by Martin, my friend. He's in checked shorts,a black hoodie and blue sandals that are so clean you'd think he's been walking on air. Chit chat…Catching up...5 seconds later, I've forgotten about teeth, about pliers in the mouth and cotton wool. And I'm laughing at how dramatic life has been since we last met. His of course having been more dramatic than mine. He’s the kind of friend who laughs at all your problems and weighs down all mountains to anthills.   As we walk towards the only supermarket in our quiet, though dust-filled locality, he asks me, ‘Jas, tell me, wascha

My Ideal

Image
She says that her idea of an ideal man is one who honors  God and submits to Him first. She also adds that he’s full of purpose, kind not to mention that love oozes out of his soul. Anything short of that is not real.. And is yet to identify themselves ✌🏽 The interesting question however is, how many ladies will go for such a man?? My friend argues that such men are sent straight to the friend-zone. They remain here up until when they are needed next. If you’re lucky, you could be promoted to the best-friend level. Better be sure we’ll run to you in case of anything. You'll be the shoulder to cry on... Time and again when 'bad boys' break our hearts. Truth is, we've all been at that point, had those moments…where we want that bad boy who doesn't have a care in the world. At first it’s thrilling, the adrenaline rush is quite exciting.. till you realize that's not what you want to do for the rest of your life. Till it hits you that you need
